Graphics – OK so what does that mean?
Graphics are visual representations on your video or computer screen. They function to brand inform, illustrate, or entertain. They can be photographs, drawings, line art, graphs, diagrams, typography, numbers, symbols, geometric designs, maps, engineering drawings, or any other type of image.
Graphics often combine words illustrations and colour, and (now here's the exciting part) when the medium allows, graphics can move or animate on your screen. When they are layered or blended with moving video or other moving elements, the effect is called "compositing".
So what's the big deal? Well, if you are concerned about branding, or corporate identity or even just want your presentation to look great, you need to pay attention to the design of the graphic elements in your program. They should enhance the message, be consistent with your brand standards and look balanced and beautiful, and of course be interesting to look at.
The goal is clarity and effective communication as well as a creation of a distinctive style.
Graphics can be functional or artistic or in a perfect world - both.
